Career Goals!

It's been long overdue, Let's have that talk now.

This piece has been long overdue.

Truth be told I've avoided this topic until now, been thinking hard about what direction I want to accelerate my career in. Since I realized talking about my future and career goals is inevitable, you might as well hear it :).

I have enjoyed this Outreachy Internship more importantly the knowledge I'm gaining at The Yocto Project and the learning processes involved. I want to continue on this Internship but as the saying goes

"One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again." - Abraham Maslow".
Being on this Outreachy Internship has exposed me to real life challenging work experience and scenarios, but at the end of this Internship journey, I'll be taking another leap.

The Leap
I might have a small bit of doubt about myself and my readiness for a full time career in software development and embedded systems as a whole, but the knowledge and experience I'm gaining at The Yocto Project and in general Embedded systems will betray my doubt. This doubt that comes as "Impostor Syndrome" which I am told a greater percentage of people in the tech industry experience, a bit comforting to know.

Well initially, before i embarked on this internship journey I had a knack for embedded systems, mostly revolving around programming microcontrollers and IOT, although I had no idea about the Yocto project and Linux embedded systems. Now my eyes has been opened to many possibilities with the Yocto Project and Embedded systems that i think after finishing my task for this internship I'll dig more, can't wait to get my hands on some raspberrypi and build some images. Nonetheless the next feasible thing for me to do is to keep building my skill set around embedded systems and try to gain more experience on open source related projects. Be that as it may, I would keep contributing to the Yocto Project as the community and my mentor has helped me real good in understanding the Yocto Project plus this would make a great influence on my growth process.

A random thought flying around: "Dorinda, taking a master degree in Software Engineering isn't a bad idea."
Me: "yeah I couldn't agree more :)"
Random thought: "when is this going to happen?"
Me: "Relax man, We'll know when the time is right."
Random Thought: now that you're almost done achieving your first term goal as stated earlier on your resume - "my short term goal is to get an internship in an organization that is performance driven and progressive." let's set another goal.
Me: "yeah man! so on point. While gaining more experience contributing to open source projects of related interest, I'll keep an eye out for Job opportunities where I can be of great addition and help with my skills."

A list of interest:
-Linux Embedded systems and Embedded systems in general.
-The workflow around Building Operating System Images.
-Machine Learning

Thanks for stopping by, however I am open to suggestions and opportunities from you so I made sure to add a comment section below, although github static pages doesn't have a comment box feature, I had to find a workaround. feel free to leave a comment thanks.
